Disney Pixar's Up - Movie Review
After the marvel that is ‘Toy Story’, some of Pixar’s productions have been a little underwhelming, ‘Cars’ for instance was not at all comparable. Up is definitely one of Pixar’s best movies, and could be classed as one of the best animated movies of all time. Up has more of an adult journey than its predecessors, and it reaches new emotional heights for an animated film.
This film is based around an old grumpy man who ties balloons to his house, wanting to float to South America alone; however he gains an accidental travel companion in the form of a young boy scout. This does not initially sound like the most compelling storyline ever. The directors must have found this idea intriguing, and hence their creativity and ingenuity has been rewarded with a wondrous and unique screenplay. As with ‘Wall E’ the storyline manages to engage the audience fully, not wanting the film to end! It is a story of friendship and adventure, with many comical parts to keep it entertaining for the younger generation. This film opened Cannes Film Festival, the first ever animated picture to do so; surely that is an achievement in itself?
This film is exciting and heart-warming. It is beautifully balanced, if anything it tugs on a few heart-strings! What a beautiful film, the dazzling colours are breathtaking and there are many times when you forget that this film is actually animated. The 3D version adds more depth, and will probably prevent the tears. The 3D effects, as you can imagine are impressive, and add to the film’s entertainment.
Don’t hesitate to see this film it really is fantastic. See the official trailer on YouTube, just click here.
