Spotlight on...Abul Basher Rana
Abul searched the internet to find the best centre to study at, and from his search he found Saudi Community Centre, a partner of NCC Education. Abul and his fellow students were the first to graduate from this study centre. He is currently studying a BSc (Hons) Business Computing and Information Technology and after this he wants to complete a MBA. He finds the course challenging and up to date with what is required for present jobs. Abul supports the online experience that comes with the programme:
“The best things about the NCC Education experience is the new online education system, me and my fellow students are positive towards the new interactive approach to learning.”
My Spotlight on The Old Dir'aiyah
One of the most-visited attractions of Saudi Arabia, the Old Dir'aiyah is situated in the capital city Riyadh, and is a wonderful historical site. A previous ruler of the Al Saud family built the Old Dir'aiyah in the year 1466. Diriyah was the original home of the Saudi royal family, and served as the capital of the first Saudi empire from 1744 to 1818.
Some of the old city's historic structures include the Salwa Palace, Saad bin Saud Palace, the Turaif Bath House and the Imam Mohammad bin Saud Mosque.
Salwa Palace It was the residence and first home of the Al Saud Amirs and Imams during the First Saudi State. It is considered the largest palace on the site, rising four stories high. It is composed of five main parts built at different consecutive periods of time.
-Saad bin Saud Palace One of the largest palaces on the site, it is famous for its courtyard, which was used as a stable. The palace is two stories high.
The Guest House is a traditional building, and it consists of a number of small courtyards surrounded by rooms. The At-Turaif Bath House is famous for its different architectural styles and shows how the building was waterproofed by using different plasters. Both the Guest and Bath Houses were supplied with water from a well.
The Imam Mohammad bin Saud mosque was built during the reign of Imam Mohammad bin Saud. Sheik Mohammad bin Abdulwahab used to give lessons about his reformed movement of Islam in this mosque. It became a centre for religious education. Students used to travel to it from all parts of the Arabian Peninsula. Simple yet appealing, the Old Dir'aiyah at Riyadh is a delight for photographers. Tourists on tours of Saudi Arabia should visit the Old Dir'aiyah, Riyadh for its opulence and architectural beauty.
